The Cotswold Way National Trail starts in the beautiful market town of Chipping Campden and runs along the western edge of the Cotswolds for 102 miles south down to the Georgian city of Bath. Along the way you will pass through quintessentially english countryside, honey-coloured stone villages, ancient woodlands and market towns.

This Cotswolds Way walking holiday lasts for 7 nights/8 days and you will have 6 full days of walking with distances of 14-20 miles per day, with an average of 17 miles per day, making the pace quite strenuous.  See itinerary tab for details.

This self-guided walking holiday includes 7 nights standard accommodation with breakfast, baggage transfers between villages, tour folder with guide book and maps/route notes

The cost of this break is £799 per person based on two people sharing a double/twin room. For solo travellers and those wanting a single room a supplement applies.

This break is our shortest covering the Cotswold Way with only 6 walking days and distances between 14-20 miles each day, with a daily average of 17 miles. This is a strenuous pace and demands a decent level of fitness. If you are looking for something more relaxed we recommend spreading the break over 10, 11 or 12 nights. Day 1Arrival in Chipping Campden

Arrive in Chipping Campden, a short taxi ride away from Moreton-in-Marsh train station. Check in to hotel and spend the rest of your day exploring this historic town. Wander around the ancient streets, visit the market hall and the fabulous church of St James and maybe stop in for a pint at one of its many historic public houses.

Overnight- Chipping Campden

Day 2Chipping Campden to Winchcombe (18 miles/29km)

Walk from Chipping Campden to Winchcombe via the picturesque villages of Broadway, Stanton and Hailes Abbey.

Day 3Winchcombe to Seven Springs (14 miles/22.5km)

Today you walk from Winchcombe to Seven Springs via Dowdeswell Reservoir and the ancient burial chamber, Belas Knap.

Day 4Seven Springs to Painswick (14 miles/22.5km)

Today you walk from Seven Springs to the pretty village of Painswick via the Roman Villa at Witcombe and Coopers Hill, the site of the infamous Cheese Rolling Contest.

Day 5Painswick to Dursley (17.5miles/28km)

Todays walk from Painswick to Dursley takes you up over Haresfield Beacon, offering great views of the Severn Valley and down into Dursley via the quaint village of Uley.

Day 6Dursley to Old Sodbury (20 miles/32km)

A long walk today from Dursley to Old Sodbury via Wotton-Under-Edge, and Hawkesbury Upton and again offering great views over the Severn Valley.

Day 7Old Sodbury to Bath (18.5 miles/29.7km)

Your last day of walking takes you from Old Sodbury into the World Heritage City of Bath, famous for the Roman Baths and Royal Crescent. En route you will pass the Tudor Mansion Dyrham Park and Sodbury Hill Fort.

Accommodation

This break includes 7 nights standard bed and breakfast accommodation staying in quality inns and bed and breakfasts.  All accommodation is carefully hand-picked and you will have a private bathroom and full english breakfast provided each morning. Double and twin (two single beds) rooms both available. 

Accomodation is extremely limited in some villages and we will try our best to keep the distance from the trail to your lodgings to less than one mile. If the distance is further than this then we will arrange transfers for you.

Accommodation upgrades are available in some villages- please let us know if you wish to upgrade.

For those wanting a single room (i.e not shared) or those travelling alone a supplement applies.

FAQ

What about my luggage?

This break includes luggage transfer(s) between lodgings, so you only need to worry about your day pack when you are moving accommodation. Each break includes luggage transfers for one large suitcase per person. You need to leave it in reception on the morning you are moving villages and it will arrive at your destination by late afternoon.

What about solo travellers and those requiring their own room?

Solo travellers are welcome on this tour and a supplement applies to cover the cost of solo occupancy of a double/twin room. A supplement also applies to those requiring their own room.

Am I fit enough?

This is our shortest break covering the Cotswold Way and is quite strenuous with distances of between 14-20 miles per day. It is aimed at experienced/fast walkers. When is the best time of year to go?

You can go any time of year but we recommend March to October as the best time of year for outdoor activities in the Cotswolds.

What should I bring?

We will provide you with a detailed pre-tour folder which includes a packing list but as a guide: layered walking wear, waterproof jacket and trousers, comfortable walking shoes, warm jacket.

How do i get to the start of the tour?

The tour starts in Chipping Campden, which is a short taxi/bus ride from Moreton-in-Marsh. Moreton-in-Marsh has a direct train link with London Paddington. The break ends in Bath, which has good transport links with London, Heathhow and the rest of the UK.

Will I be given an orientation?

At the time of booking you will be given the option to pay extra to have a brief meeting (20-30 min) with a company representative who will talk you through the specific walking routes and answer any questions you may have.
